Another one of my favorite tabletops I have photographed!! Designed by the dynamite Michele Mottola, this is another wonderful conception that just exudes uniqueness and lots of good old fashioned imagination. Photographed outside at the InterContinental Boston back lawn, a custom mirrored arbor was built that allowed for handblown glass bulbs to be hung and filled with orchids and lillies above an acrylic table and chairs.
Ok so this was actually one of my most challenging tables I have had to shoot. A reflective glass background, see-through tables and chairs, and a mirrored arbor outside in the city with lots of reflections going on. This one took some patience, almost the whole day actually to get it right. That morning I took a calculated guess that the sunlight would eventually fall just so as to darken the background and shine light on table. And fortunately I was right. And although my blog post title says “Outs” I had to include the chosen image for the magazine as luck was really on my side that day. The 5th photo from the top says it all. The flowers were highlighted just perfectly both on the table and those meticulously hung from above. The chairs were clearly visible as the suns shadow couldn’t have landed any more perfectly in the bacground, and the mirrored arbor stood out just enough.
